I am alive.........

I know its been a really long time since I posted but this funny thing called "Life" has been happening. I have been working and trying to sleep and just when you think you have a handle on things you go get sick and that sort of sits you on your butt. So yes, I am alive and thanks for the emails checking in with me. *Warm fuzzies to you all* I will not leave it so long between visits from now on. I hope everyone is geared up for the silly season. I actually haven't left ALL of my shopping till the last moment this year so I am quite proud of myself. A few more things to grab this weekend and I am done. So a short, sweet post today, heading off to work now so take care all and see you soon.

Vanuatu And Back

Well its been a little while since I posted and its been a hectic time. I have been on holidays and went to Vanuatu with one of my friends from work. We had been there before but as a part of a cruise so this time we thought we'd just go there for our entire holiday because its such a lovely place. We even got to send postcards home at the Underwater Post Office!!! Yes I said underwater, it was so funny. You could snorkel out over a lovely coral reef to a post box that was underwater and send your waterproof postcards. We did a few guided tours and I will add LO's as I do them but for today I wanted to post this one. We went to The Secret Garden which is a cultural centre and I got to have a meet and greet with one of the more colourful locals. This was one of 5 iguana's they had and it was so placid.

Wanted To Share My LO

Long time no post but I have been working sleeping working sleeping. Oh and freezing my butt off in between. On the up side though 2 weeks until I go to Vanuatu on holidays.YIPPEE!!
I am in the process of making a Brag Book for my StepDad filled with piccies of myself & my Lil sis and I wanted to share one of the layouts I came up with.
I used KimB's All That Jazz to create it.Well actually I pulled some elements from the All That Jazz QP Kim made also. I was torn because I loved the quick page but I really wanted to use the top hat as a frame so I played Frankenstein. The brag book is all 5x7 and I am loving it and will share some more LO's later.

My First Shared Template

I'm not ever going to mention what time it is at the moment, but I know I should be sleeping :( I didn't work last night and I had a very early "Nanny Nap" and once I woke up that was it. I am so going to pay for this at work tonight. Oh well as long as I make it to midnight it's okay at least its the weekend once I get home. So to amuse myself since I couldn't get back to sleep I did a LO with a template I made. Yes little old me was stuffing around in psp and made a template inspired by a photo of myself and my two bestest guy friends in the world. We have all been friends since the first year of high school and the photo was taken at Gregs Wedding. So here's the LO and a lil preview of the template I made. Its pretty basic but I am sure could be jazzed up heaps more than I have here.

Thursdays Shopping Bags

Well I have been out and about again today and trekked over to IkeaGoddesses place and she pointed me in the direction of Val Gouveia's blog where I picked up a very colourful kit called Kit Grazi. Its jam packed with elements (50 in all not including papers)Fantastic kit.
Next I strolled off to Kim B's, a well worn path that one, where I snapped up her devine Seeds Of Today template. I love Kim's work no matter what it is she just has the "knack" if you know what I mean.
Then I popped over to PillowGirls for the next installment of her Patterns Of Elegance kit, I just love the combination of colours she has used here. Today she has ribbons and bows.
Then I flew over to Princess Pamela's blog (although I think she should be Queen) and grabbed her Birthday template. She is taking down her current freebies because of space of 4shared which lets face it she can't have much space left with all the goodies she shares with us.
Next I headed for Anita's "Nana's Attic" and she has this gorgeous quick page.

So ladies, thanks heaps for the shopping for today, time to play now. HUGS :)

Just Plain Envious

I have just been on my daily trek around the world via the web looking at all of the lovely creations and free items offered and I did my daily stop at Silvia's blog and she had a listing for Kat_AKA_faith42love displaying a delightful purples kit called Wish Upon A Star. Now everyone knows I am a huge sucker for all things purple so I clicked on over for a closer look and WOW, it is just great. I know I say it a lot but I am so envious of these designers along with being grateful that they share the creations they make. I have been mucking around doing a brag book and I have been doing some templates that I am toying with the idea of sharing, I am just unsure of my skill level but I will keep you posted.

Anyways pop on over to Kats blog, she also has a cute little Summer Stylin kit as well thats pastels with a cool charm like alpha.

I Found The Coolest Template

I found the coolest template over at cafe digi. I was there snapping up another wonderful item created by Debi( Lifes Journey Cafe Book, its just amazing too)and I scrolled back through to the previous page and I am so happy that I did.I don't know how I had missed this template on my previous visits to Debi's blog but I have it now. Template #3 is so simple and yet quirky at the same time, I just love it. As luck would have it I only a few days ago also found Ronna Penner's Express Yourself kit which has great stationery type elements so I teamed them up for my latest LO.
I have recently been doing a heap of 5x7 LO's for a project I am putting together and Debi's template was just a perfect addition.

Back Again

Has been a little while since I posted any of my layouts so I thought I'd pop one up.
I was so inspired by the clever elements in Jannidee's You've Got Male kit that this is what I came up with. I am one of those Single women paying off her own home, you know the type. Jaded by males but miss them when the work gets real hard...lol.
So lucky for me I have the best family in the world. A few years back I bought my home and two months later my family gave up their usual Easter plans to come and help me add a patio and garden shed to my new home. It was a great long weekend once we got past the fact that the supplier of the patio had actually sent parts for 3 different patios ( ROLL EYES HERE ). We toiled ahead and got it done and I am so happy with it. I had actaully rented the place for a few years prior and when they owners wanted to sell they gave me first option and I jumped at it. It is 15 mins from my work and has a really good shopping centre close by, it was just meant to be I say. So here's my LO of the workers, my family & I love them to bits.

New Layout

I stumbled across a new blog by Melusine and she had her first kit up for sharing and I was so in awe of it I just had to do a LO. I so admire anyone with the talent and lets just say it, the guts to post a new creation. As I have said many times I just don't have a talented bone in my body when it comes to digi design. I can paint folk art and I have always been a paper crafter, I can sew wedding dresses and I can cook up a storm but this whole digi designing just leaves me cold. Sure I dabble but consider what I do to be childs play hence my awe of the designers out there. I love all the designers that make and share templates just as much as those who create glorious full blown kits because lets face it sometimes you just have no clue, you get here all ready with your selected photos and dream of the perfect Lo to do them credit and then you select the kit you what to use and then nothing..... a big fat blank. No idea where to place them, you move them around and skew them and then un-skew them and resize and shuffle them a bit more and still nothing. This is why I love the templates, for those "blank" moments.
Today was one such moment, I knew which photo's I wanted to use and I definetly knew which kit but I just couldn't work out how I wanted to place them. As chance would have it, I had only days ago downloaded KimB's block template and I love her kits so much that I thought I'd give it a whirl and I am happy with the result.
So here it is... My New Layout

My next LO comes from a quick shopping trip a girlfriend and I took to Singapore back in 2005. In the middle photo I am having my fortune told by a parrot, freaky I know but what was even freakier was that it told me I was going to have a son very soon. Normally that wouldn't of phased me but I had only found out 3 days before we left for Singapore that I was pregnant. Unfortunetly I never found out the sex of the identical twins I was pregnant with as I lost them fairly early into the pregnancy. Gods will I am sure.
I used Kim B's African Sunsets Kit Template by Princess Pamela The Font is Shanghi.

The next LO says it all I think.
I used yet another Kim B Kit Rich Delights The round frames are by Renae. The font is Black Chance.

Where Did The Week And My Bandwidth Go ???

I have had this week off work and its now 11:30 Friday night and I am wondering what I did with my week off and OMG how is it that I have used all that bandwidth and where did all those srapbooking files come from, surely I didn't do that much downloading, did I? I know I spent time with my family when I picked them up from their cruise. I also spent a day shopping with one of my girlfriends from work and we booked ourselves a week in Vanuatu for August. Apart from that I have done alot of catching up on sleep ( Have I mentioned I am a shiftworker? ) and I also did a few LO's which I will post eventually.
I also know that I have discovered the guardian angel of my sanity when it comes to printing out LO's and that is Renae over at Addicted To Digital. She has templates galore in the most imaginitive designs and the BEST bit is that they are in 11 x 8.5, perfect for printing out. Renae is one very talented lady I must say.
So I will post this and then I am going to spend a bit of time scanning old photo's that have been given to me and gee I don't know, I can feel another LO coming on.

My Inspiration

My sister has only been away 2 days and I miss her already. I hate not being able to pick up the phone and ring her whenever I want. I hope they are all having a fantastic time and that Tamika has found her sea legs because the poor little thing suffers badly from motion sickness. I was thinking about her and remembered a recent photo my sis gave me of her and it was the inspiration behind tonights LO.
I used a sampler kit I picked up created by Tracey Blankenship called Beach House. Its a very simple little LO but I love it, the piccie is so lovely and is Tamika all over.

Another Week Gone

This week sure flew by quickly. It was a good week, I finally got "offically" promoted to a job I have been doing for about 8 years now so yay I guess. I also had a fly-by visit with my Lil Sis and my Mr Fixit Bro-in-Law (love him to death) and my angel of a Neice which inspired todays LO. They came and stayed overnight and the next morning I took them to meet the rest of my immediate family, being My Dad and Step-Mother, My Step-Dad and his Fiance, her daughter and her fiance. ( still with me? )Yes I have a truly modern day family like many others.
They all left on a cruise yesterday for 10 days. I have been on 2 in the last 3 years and nagged my sister that it would be a great holiday for her and hubby and then the rest of the family decided they would tag along. Would love to be a fly on those walls. I would of loved to go but am going to Vanuatu in August for a week and saving like crazy for 8 weeks in Europe next year.
Anyway I love anytime I get to see my neice Tamika and since I had picked up Lindsay Janes lovely kit during the week I felt inspired to use it.

I Love Long Weekends

Its was public holiday here in Sunny Queensland this weekend and I couldn't wait to spend some ( ok lots) of time doing a few layouts. On a recent trip home to my family I spent a few hours going through old photographs with my Dad and I was so happy to see that he had copies of my Debutante Ball photo's. I thought these had been lost to me forever. I also was able to copy many photos of myself and my younger sister that I had not seen for years and that bought back so many happy memories.

So I have been busy creating my layouts and I figured I'd put some of them up today. Three of these I made using kits created by Lindsay Jane ( I so love her designs ) another was made using a kit By Odette and the fifth was made using part of the Little Girls Garden Kit currently being shared by Angel In My Pocket Designs.

The photographs of my sister and I tend to have a bit of a theme. Our mother, like many, loved to dress us girls in matching outfits. A bit of a joke in our family as I am sure is the case with any children who have heard the phrase " Oh don't they look lovely in their matching dresses"

Anyway, onto the LO's.

The first is from just before Christmas 1985. Up until this photo was taken my sister had always had hair down to her waist and on the day we had these done I pulled her out of school and she had it all cut off and styled for the pictures which we did as a suprise gift for our parents. Now you may notice that yes we are in "matching dresses" and for once it was by choice. We were supposed to wear them at our mother's second wedding but she wasn't happy with them and we went with something else so we thought it was the perfect choice for the photos since she had never seen them on both of us at the same time.
The Kit is From Angel In My Pocket Designs and its part of the Little Girls Garden Kit.

Second Times A Charm

I have been working my way around the whole "blog" thing and I think I have it figured out now (she says with fingers crossed). I have been trying to add in my favourite blogs and links but keep getting sidetracked by all the layouts to checkout and of course the freebies.
Happy National Scrapbook Day to you all also.
So today I thought I'd add the first and as yet only LO I have ever posted in a formal setting. As I am sure time will show, I have a thing for purples and I go crazy everytime I find kits in these colours so you can only imagine the reaction last month when SDK let loose with thier collection of Spring Forward and A Wind Of Spring. I made a very simple little LO called Those Grape Dresses. So here it is.

Here Goes Nothing

I am going to give this blogging thing a go and see what happens. So hold on this could be a bumpy ride.

I have been totally dumb founded by the amount of talented designers out there who are kind enough to share there wonderful creations for free. I don't have an artistic bone in my body so I praise you all and the fact that you all share the way you blows me away.

So I'd like to use my "blog" to share the layouts that I create with your hard work.

I have to admit to having my favourite designers, as I am sure everyone does, but being an true Aussie I have to say that Lindsay Jane just stuns me. Her designs are just devine and I'm sure I will be posting many layouts using her creations. Like everyone I am a slave to the freebies lists and visit IkeaGoddess and Selena daily. Another part of the world I visit daily sees me opening my translation page so I get the low-down on whats happening in South America. Love all those ladies from Brazil. Anyway enough jabbering on, time to see if I can work out this uploading piccies part.

If it works there will be a layout featuring Lindsay Jane and her Grandma's House Kit. I was looking for colours to compliment these pictures of my Dad and Lindsay of course had the perfect colours. So fingers crossed XX
